Protect Your Health with Regular Cervical Screening
The Cervical Screening Test (CST) is a vital preventative measure for women aged 25-70. This simple test has replaced the Pap smear and offers significantly improved accuracy in detecting early signs of cervical cancer.
Why is Cervical Screening Important?
- Early detection: The CST identifies the presence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer, allowing for early intervention and treatment.
- Reduced frequency: With regular negative results, you only need a CST every 5 years, compared to the previous 2-yearly Pap smear.
- Peace of mind: Regular screening empowers you to take control of your reproductive health.
Who Needs a Cervical Screening Test?
- Women aged 25-70: All sexually active women within this age group should undergo regular screening.
- Symptomatic individuals: If you experience any abnormal vaginal bleeding, pain during intercourse, or changes in vaginal discharge, consult your doctor for advice.

What Happens After the Test?
- Normal result: If no HPV is detected, you'll be invited back for another test in 5 years.
- Abnormal result: You may require further testing, such as a repeat CST or a colposcopy. It's important to note that an abnormal result doesn't necessarily mean you have cancer.
The Cervical Screening Test
The CST is a quick and painless procedure performed by a healthcare professional. A sample of cells is collected from your cervix and tested for HPV.
